I'm watching the third season of Battlestar Galactica. Basically, the show has won a ton of awards and all that. But it's not very popular over here. So I'm wondering, is it because it's sci-fi, or why?
It's actually a good show. I used to really like Lost, but I just can't bring myself to put on the fourth season. At the end of the day, Lost is – utter nonsense, no matter how you slice it. And “Heroes” too.
Battlestar is more realistic, even though it takes place in the future, and in tired old space, and is packed with killer special effects. Basically, a lot of people have talked about this, especially the Strugatskys. Namely, that the main thing in sci-fi, just like in any literature – is the interaction of people and societies in complex/uncharted situations. From this point of view, idiots run the show in Lost, and “Heroes” isn't far behind. Then again, my gut tells me, give it time, and I'll get sick of “Galactica” too.
I watched a season and a half of Prison Break – it gets boring, it's too dragged out, always the same old thing.
Otherwise: haven't watched House, haven't watched Scrubs, haven't watched CSI, haven't watched Dexter and don't really want to, haven't watched 24. You can't watch everything, anyway.
OZ – brilliant. The Sopranos – not for me, I'm still too young.
Overall it's amazing, of course, how many good shows are coming out, though it makes sense, considering Americans already watch TV for four hours a day.
